Malacca, or Melaka, is a state located in the south of Peninsular Malaysia. It is one of the smallest states in the country, being encased within the larger Negeri Sembilan State, except for its coastal line, which faces the Straits of Malacca. Visitors and tourists to Malacca mostly travel from the direction of Kuala Lumpur or Singapore, using the North-South Highway for access to the historical city area. Several trunk roads also connect to Malacca, most prominently the coastal road that runs from Port Dickson all the way down to its port area.
