There are many activities for the whole family to enjoy while on holiday in Malacca. Children will have an exciting fun time getting wet in A'Famosa Water World or getting close to wild animals on a safari tour. The Melaka River Cruise is a great way for visitors and tourists to see the historical parts of Malacca on boat. Golfing is available from four international golf courses in the state while the D-Paradise Village offers its guests a look at the agricultural industry and the chance to sample some delicious tropical fruits.
A'Famosa Water World, Animal World Safari and Cowboy Town
The A'Famosa Water World in Alor Gajah is a theme park catering for families situated on a 20-acre landscape. The park also the Animal World Safari and Cowboy Town as its latest attractions. The water park is the main highlight on a visit here, as there are large swimming pools, slides, tubes and a playground along with wave pool. Children will love the playground encased in a shallow pool with Moorish minarets and objects to run around.
The Animal Safari is another popular activity where guests ride on top of barricaded trucks and travel through a series of paddocks housing wild animals of local and exotic origin. Some of the wildlife visitors can see include tigers, lions, elephants, sun bears, giraffes and deer. Guests then head over to the Animal World section where there are various shows featuring trained animals performing, such as the bird show where parrots, eagles and hornbills perform tricks, elephant show where the large mammals play sports with their trainers and animal show with dogs, bears, otters and monkeys perform acrobatic feats. Finally, there is the Cowboy Town where visitors will be entertained by the antics of cowboys and Red Indians performing a rodeo show, just like in the wild wild west.
Melaka River Cruise
The Melaka River Cruise offers a pleasant way for visitors to discover the heritage landmarks of Malacca. Tourists can board the boat from the jetty in Taman Rempah (Spice Garden) near the town center. The boat will meander slowly through the river, allowing you to take in the sights of some of Malacca's oldest parts in the city, such as Kampung Morten; a traditional Malay village and sailing under heritage bridges.
D-Paradise Tropical Fruit World and Aborigine Native Village
The D-Paradise Tropical Fruit World is a 168-acre park which highlights the agricultural industry of Malaysia, primarily with local fruits. Situated on the park are various attractions for visitors and tourists to explore, such as the Orchard Garden where over 800 tropical fruits are grown, cactus garden featuring various cacti, orchid park with lovely flowers and native village where local Aborigines, called Orang Asli, showcase their traditional jungle lifestyle for visitors. The park also has Robber Crabs, the largest land crab species from Christmas Island on display, along with deers and rabbits. Visitors can also pick and taste the fruits growing here or spend the night in chalets.
Golf
Malacca has several international golf courses which attract avid golfers from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore on a regular basis. The A'Famosa Golf Resort in Alor Gajah is a large 27-hole course with natural surroundings spread over 1,100 acres. The Ayer Keroh Golf & Country Club is about 14 km from Melaka City and features an 18-hole course with numerous water hazards. The Tiara Melaka Golf & Country Club, also in Ayer Keroh, has a world class 27-hole course spread over 450 acres of lush terrain. Finally, the Ornaresort Golf & Country Club is also a 27-hole course offering a great challenge for golfers with thick fairways and steep slopes.
Bee Farm
The Bee Farm, also called B-B Town, is located in Ayer Keroh, near the Taman Mini Asean and Mini Malaysia. Entrance to this farm is free, and visitors get to see how honey is harvested from bees and processed into the substance we all love on bread, pancakes and waffles. The bees that produce the honey are housed in boxes to facilitate collection but there is a real hive on display to educate tourists. Finally, there is even an international bee museum, where visitors can see honey from different parts of the world and purchase their own honey from the farm.
Seri Tanjung Home Stay
The Seri Tanjung Homestay programme gives visitors and tourists the opportunity to experience traditional Malay living in a rustic village in Masjid Tanah, about 24 km away from Malacca City. The village sustains itself on agriculture and animal farming, allowing participants to engage in paddy planting, feeding poultry and milking cows. Guests will also get to see the cultural aspects of living in this traditional village such as games, dances and sports.
